The history of seeds at VAKS spans 20 years – ever since the cooperative was founded.

We began with just a few tons of deliveries and seed treatment services, and today we are among the largest seed processors in Vidzeme. Our work is recognized not only across Latvia but also beyond its borders. Since 2017, we have also been processing grass seeds.

We offer both seeds prepared abroad — such as hybrid rye, hybrid wheat and barley, rapeseed, and corn — as well as seeds grown and processed in Latvia, including cereals, legumes, and grasses. Each year, our assortment includes around 100 different varieties.

When selecting new varieties, their characteristics are especially important: stability, resistance, flexibility, suitability to the region, drought tolerance, yield potential, and quality indicators.

Located in northern and northeastern Latvia, winter hardiness is the most critical factor.
